Let’s get straight to the point. The view of Lake Como from the new walkway will leave you breathless!
Piani dei Resinelli or Piani Resinelli (from the name of the family who owned the area) are a plateau at 1,182 meters a.s.l within the province of Lecco and they are a perfect starting point for many excursions. No matter if you are not so trained, I’ll tell you the easier trail to reach the new panoramic walkway.
How to reach the walkway
The walkway is located in Parco Valentino. The park is the ideal place for snowshoeing and bobsleighing in winter while in summer it offers trails suitable for everyone.
When reached Piani Resinelli just follow the signs to Parco Avventura and then park your car in Via Escursionisti where many spots should be always available. Right behind the only skyscraper you see, there is a wooden board with all the trails.
Always follow the signs to Belvedere. Few minutes and we reach the entrance to Parco Valentino.
The walk is very quiet, slightly uphill, suitable for anyone unused to walking and not last very suggestive, surrounded by greenery in the shade of the forest.
It will take 10 minutes to reach the museum Grigne di Villa Gerosa and other 20 minutes to the Belvedere.
Once there, you can not but notice the spectacular metal walkway overhanging the lake.
The breathtaking view stretches from the Rhaetian Alps to Monte Rosa, the city of Lecco, the coastal villages and the Briantei lakes. In the clearest days you can also see the skyline of Milan.
Where to eat at Piani Resinelli
Among huts, restaurants and refuges there are many proposals, all of good quality. However, the Ristobar Parete Ovest deserves a special mention. It is located right at the beginning of Via Escursionisti and it is run by the daughter of the famous alpinist Casimiro Ferrari. The name refers to the mythical West of Cerro Torre (one of the mountains of the Southern Patagonian) climbed by her father in 1974. The menu includes Valtellina and Valsassina specialties with mainly local ingredients. Taste the Kiscioi (similar to pancakes), pizzoccheri and polenta with mushrooms or ribs.
Trust me, her handmade pasta and the homemade desserts are unmissable!
There are many other activities to do in Piani Resinelli
- have fun at Parco Avventura located at the left of the road to the walkway.
Different degrees of difficulty for both children and adults.
Official website
- make a tour of the old mines with a guide. Official website
- various routes for hiking. The most popular is the one to La Grigna and Grignetta (two high mountains with a sharp shape).
Piani Resinelli are now proposed as a summer resort and one of the most important mountaineering centers in Europe.
Food shopping on the way back
In Ballabio, a few kilometers from the uphill road to the Resinelli, there is a shop that is now a reference point for the valley. Alva Market sells local products and was reinvented to welcome both locals and tourists. Delicious cheese and the best sliced of the valley for the best price.
