How to reach Milan from Malpensa airport
Malpensa airport is about 50 kilometers away from the center to which it is connected by a railway line and several bus companies.
The fastest way is the Malpensa Express train, it takes about 40 minutes to get to Milano Cadorna station and about 50 minutes to reach Milano Centrale. You can check timetable and buy tickets online on the Trenord website, the fixed price for a one-round ticket is €13.00. The tickets can be also bought at the automated ticket machines just before you get down the ramp to reach the train platform.
Terravision, Malpensa Shuttle or Bus Express bus companies bring you directly to Milano Centrale, the ticket costs 10 euro and can be bought on board. Keep in mind that during peak hours the buses may be subject to delays due to traffic.
I would recommend to choose the train option in every case.
Who carry heavy luggages or prefer to reach directly the chosen accommodation find white regular taxi just outside the airport, they have a fixed fare (rather expensive) from the airport to any address in the center of Milan.
How to reach Milan from Milan Bergamo Orio al Serio airport
Bergamo Airport, also known as Il Caravaggio International Airport or Orio al Serio Airport, together with Malpensa and Linate is part of the milanese airport system with an annual traffic of almost 50 million passengers. The distance from the center is about 53 km.
A shuttle bus connects Bergamo airport to Milan Central Station. The frequency is every 15 minutes and the travel time is about an hour. You can book your ticket online or buy it directly on the shuttle. The main bus companies are: Orioshuttle, Terravision, Autosradale.
Taxi is a less stressed but more expensive option and it has a fixed cost.
How to reach Milan from Linate airport
Everyone calls it Linate airport but the official name is Enrico Forlanini International Airport in honor of the Italian aviation pioneer.
Despite being the most near airport to the center of Milan, located just 8 kilometers southeast, Linate is the least trafficked, with just over 9 million travelers a year. It is mostly used for domestic flights and is therefore one of the most frequented by Italians from other cities of the peninsula.
Thanks to a new metro line M4 you can reach the center of Milan, San Babila square, in less than a quarter of an hour. It takes just 12 minutes to travel the entire blue line: Linate Airport, Repetti, Forlanini Station, Argonne, Susa, Dateo, Tricolore and San Babila. From here you can easily use other metro lines to move to different destinations using the same ticket (it costs 2,20 euro).
To reach Milan Central station directly there is no need to switch metro lines, there are buses that bring you directly there: Airport Bus Express and Linate Shuttle.
Please note that there is no fixed rate for taxi fare from Linate to the city center. Normally, the price of a taxi is in the range 30-40€, depending on traffic.
